The Quilt Shop by Lois Young Sewers Schedule
Late summer and Early Fall

Do you have a middle school or high school aged young adult in your life? Would they be interested in learning to sew? If so, call The Quilt Shop by Lois for information on the After School Young Sewer Club! 203-270-0341.

Last of the Summer Fun Young Sewers Club

August is here, but there is still plenty of time left for fun.  If you are just hanging around the house looking for something to do, then this is for you.  For three weeks on Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays, the store will focus on the young sewer in the afternoons.   Because of the possibility of being gone on a vacation, you can pick and choose the weeks.

Week 1 will focus on getting to know the machines and feeling comfortable with them, as well as get acquainted with the basic notions that sewers and quilters use. We will make a patchwork pillow while learning these skills.

For those who have already done this, there will be a later afternoon session where you can work on other projects.  For those that are interested you might want to work on the Junior Row by Row.  These rows can be used together to make a quilt, like the one in the store, or you might choose to use them in a variety of other types of projects.

Week 2 will continue with projects that will include coasters, and placemats.  Both are easy and fun projects that they can use themselves or make as gifts.   After these I let the students have a voice in the projects that they would like to make themselves.

Week 3 will allow them to finish up projects or pursue one of their own choices, as long as they have mastered the necessary skills.  Possibilities will be given for these projects.

After School Young Sewers

This will commence in late September when everyone is back in the swing of things and have figured out their schedules.  Let me know if you are interested and we can start to figure out days and times.  I will schedule those who are already part of this before scheduling for new sewers.
